Testimonials

"Columbia’s College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Bassett Healthcare Network have joined forces to create a small medical school program, called the Columbia-Bassett Program, wherein 10 Columbia medical students in each of the four years of medical school receive special additional training in more deeply understanding the patient/practitioner relationship and in performance improvement techniques in order to help them lead transformation to a better, safer, and less costly healthcare system.  The support and participation of Catskill Hudson AHEC has assisted in achieving these goals and has been deeply appreciated." -- Henry Weil, MD, Dean of Columbia-Bassett Program, Bassett Healthcare

"UHS Delaware Valley Hospital has sponsored a M*A*S*H Camp for the last 10 years to give area high school students an opportunity to increase awareness of various healthcare career options. It has been a pleasure working with the Catskill Hudson AHEC staff over the years on this project.  They have been able to provide invaluable opportunities and resources for our area High School students.  Students who have attended M*A*S*H Camps have been enthusiastic and appreciative for this opportunity.  While attending M*A*S*H Camp, the students get an opportunity to have hands-on experiences, speak with professionals, and learn about healthcare jobs to better prepare them when considering what career path they would like to explore in the future.  I look forward to working with Catskill Hudson AHEC each year on this project and providing the students in the Catskill region with this wonderful opportunity to look into various healthcare careers." -- Cindy Gardepe, Human Resource Administrator, UHS Delaware Valley Hospital

“Catskill Hudson Area Health Education Center is one of the best things to ever happen to my nursing students. Through their Nurse Mentoring Program, my students have access to nurses out in the field who provide them with personal and ethical advice regarding nursing related issues, as well as career advice, and a fresh perspective. The participating students are very enthusiastic and appreciative for this opportunity. In the coming year, we will benefit from some of their excellent workshops and one of the staff will be a member of the CSTEP Advisory Board. They are an amazing and valuable resource, genuinely interested in promoting interest and success in health-related fields.” -- Wendy A. Bohlinger, Dutchess Community College, CSTEP Coordinator

"Working with Catskill Hudson AHEC means access to many valuable resources and tools for our high school Health Careers Academy students and staff.  We look forward to working with Catskill Hudson AHEC each year for our annual career expo for middle level students-- I guess we just always look forward to collaborating with Catskill Hudson AHEC because the result is always a WIN!" –- Alanna Smith, Business & Industry Coordinator, Orange-Ulster BOCES, Career & Technical Education Center

“I had the distinct pleasure of working with the Catskill Hudson AHEC last year to host a large rural geriatrics conference that was held at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System’s Castle Point Campus. The CHAHEC served as one of our conference sponsors and played a vital role in the planning of the day-long event through successful recruitment of expert speakers as well as extensive marketing to interdisciplinary professionals throughout the Hudson Valley . I was so impressed with the level of professionalism, enthusiasm, and support that was exhibited. We are very fortunate to have collaborated with the CHAHEC on this program and hope to work with them again in the near future. Many thanks for all the great work that you do!” -- Annette M. Atanous, MSSW, James J. Peters VA Medical Center, Bronx, New York

I just wanted to send you a quick note to say thank you for your webpage (http://www.chahec.org/nursing/specialties). I came across your page while researching for some information on nursing careers. I'm thinking of going back to school for nursing, but wanted to learn more about the field before making a final decision. I really enjoyed looking through the nursing resources you compiled. They've been a great help - thanks so much. :-)  -- Erin J.

I wanted to tell you that I've been using your page on nursing specialties (http://www.chahec.org/nursing/specialties) for my classes at school.  I'm a health teacher working on a lesson on the fields of healthcare one can get into and your page had a lot of great stuff I could use. -- Mrs. Ashley H.
