                                                                       (SEARCH)

 

 

What is SEARCH?:

 SEARCH is a service that provides health professions students and residents the opportunity to serve on

 multidisciplinary health care teams in underserved populations.

• Students may work in hospitals, community health centers, offices and clinics in underserved communities.

• Some students may participate in Community Experience Projects, including volunteering at Community

Health Centers, development of community-specific materials, project research and community education.

 

Student Requirements:

• Rotations are a minimum of 120 hours.

• All rotations must take place in underserved areas.

• Students and residents have completed their first year of medical training and have the coverage of their

program’s liability insurance. Students without insurance are eligible to complete SEARCH sponsored

Community Experience Projects.

 

Student Benefits:

 

• Housing and Transportation Reimbursement (up to $500).

• The following community health rotation are eligible for the SEARCH program*:

 

— Clinical Psychology                — Marriage & Family Therapy

 — Clinical Social Work              — Nurse-Midwifery

 — Dental Hygiene                    — Nurse Practitioner

 — Dentistry                            — Obstetrics/Gynecology

 — Family Medicine                    — Physician Assistant

 — General Internal Medicine      — Psychiatric Nursing

 — General Pediatrics                — Psychiatry

 

 *Please note that not all rotations are available in every area. 

 • If a rotation is already scheduled, it could quality for SEARCH.
